The Band CAMINO

Single review by Andy Cantu

Nashville-based rock band The Band CAMINO released their first single of 2025, ‘Infinity,’ on April 23rd after weeks of hinting at a new release on their social media accounts. The song is the first release from their new album, and the band wrote a captivating caption to announce it. “Spent the better part of the last year working on a new album. Starting over again from scratch is always this puzzle of staying true to your roots and simultaneously becoming something new. Infinity was one of those guiding light songs that reminded us who we were and where we were going. Can’t wait to play it live, can’t wait to share a lot more songs. Go stream infinity, tbc forever,” stated the Instagram post. This will be the band’s third album, and their first long form release since their second album, Dark, in 2023.

‘Infinity’ at its core is a song about feeling aimless, something that most listeners can easily relate to. The singer describes using hallucinogenic substances in order to cope with their current situation, and their effect in helping them see the bright side while simultaneously making them feel even more confused. “I'm swimming in the desert tryna get my life together. Think I'm gonna live forever in a sideways figure eight. The psilocybin and the sun on the horizon got me seeing silver linings in a sideways figure eight.” The lyrics in the chorus compare the singer’s current situation to a sideways figure eight, a symbol on a Ouija board that denotes the presence of a malevolent force. The hallucinogens allow them to see a silver lining in this unfavorable situation.

The accompanying music video shows the band performing in the middle of a field in the daytime, and a forest at night. The different scenes change rapidly to give the viewer little time to fully take in any of them. This drives home the feelings of confusion that are present in the lyrics, and accentuated by the song’s production. The vocals of Spencer Stewart in the chorus catches the listener off guard after Jeffery Jordan’s first verse, and the instrumentals are constantly keeping the listener on edge. If this is the track that best represents the direction The Band CAMINO is going in with their upcoming album, it’s sure to be a unique listening experience at the very least.
