On March 14th 2025, folk Americana singer-songwriter Bo Staloch (pronounced stah-LOW) celebrated his 20th birthday, as well as the release of his first EP, The Garden. The Austin, Texas native launched his music career less than two years ago with his first song ‘Springtime Red Tulips.’ He signed with Capitol Records this past September around the same time he started working on The Garden.
The title track of the EP was the first of six songs made, inspired by Staloch’s time in Minnesota with his family and his manager’s family. The message Staloch wanted to convey through the song was to his future children and “letting go of fear for them.” He says the song was “strictly about family and love for family.” Another song on the EP, ‘Give It A Break,’ was released as a single back in January. ‘Give It A Break’ was written “subconsciously” about a previous relationship by Staloch during a tour last year. The cover art was created from a picture of him taken at a home in Laurel Canyon, which he believes “set the tone” for ‘Give It A Break.’ While working on the rest of the EP, he said his songwriting is very much inspired by people watching and how “everyone’s very, very related and very, very similar.” Many of his musical influences include Bon Iver, Radiohead, Taylor Swift, and the 2024 album East My Love by Current Joys.
Some of Staloch’s fondest memories that inspired him to pursue music involved going to Austin City Limits, watching a Mumford & Sons performance at Red Rocks on YouTube repeatedly, and a Mt. Joy show where he sat on the balcony and watched the crowd. At that very moment he thought, “That’s what I want to create for everybody.” Staloch, who experiences anxiety, admits he has stage fright and music is like therapy or a superpower for him. He encourages listeners of his music to “be whoever [they] need to be” and advises them “if something feels right, then it’s probably right.”
Staloch already has a number of performances lined up for the coming months, such as dates with indie artist Mark Ambor in the UK and France, and a few headlining shows of his own. He will also join alt-pop singer-songwriter Ashe on all 14 dates of The Trilogy Tour, and is one of several artists supporting country singer Zach Bryan on the second day of his two-day performance at BST Hyde Park in June. Additionally, Staloch was recently announced for Lollapalooza 2025 alongside big names such as Sabrina Carpenter, Doechii, Tyler, The Creator, Olivia Rodrigo, and more.
