Alexander Stewart
Article by Brittany Ormiston
Alexander Stewart is a pop singer/songwriter and exquisite vocalist who is no stranger to the music industry. His vocal covers have attracted more than 2 million subscribers to his YouTube channel, and over 4 million followers to his TikTok. He is currently touring the country as a supporting act of one of his idols and inspirations, Charlie Puth. The tour stop in Indianapolis was memorable, heart wrenching, and overall an experience of a lifetime.
Alexander appeared on stage to the crowd welcoming him with open arms. He started the night off with crisp instrumentals bellowing through the speakers during ‘when you love someone.’ He did not hesitate to deliver the most effortless high note shocking those in attendance. His extra vocal runs in ‘24 Hours’ put a unique spin on the track, and had everyone nodding their heads to the beat of the bass drum. “My name is Alexander Stewart, and I’m honored to be here tonight,” he stated in a soft tone while grinning from ear-to-ear. To pull in the audience even more, Alexander covered ‘Someone You Loved’ by Lewis Capaldi. Witnessing the crowd singing the chorus in unison was incredibly special, and it developed core memories for many. Alexander started jumping up and down with excitement similar to a little kid in the midst of a candy store. Once the song concluded, he stated that was his favorite part of each night.
Before diving into ‘I’m trying,’ Alexander spent a minute expressing the importance of taking care of your mental health, and to never be afraid to ask for help. “If you are hurting, please reach out to someone. People really f— care about you,” Alexander uttered with sincerity. He recently has come to terms with his own mental health, and his genuine deliverance of the track was awe-inspiring. “I say that I’m fine but it feels like I’m dying // Why do the words in my head get so violent?” as he closed his eyes with emotion. The wind picked up speed during the performance of ‘I’m trying,’ and it felt almost as if the universe was reminding everyone to take a deep breath and keep going; keep fighting. Alexander ended the set with his brilliant tracks ‘blame’s on me’ and ‘echo.’ Confidence radiated from him with each lyric and flawless vocal. The final chorus of ‘echo’ was hauntingly beautiful, and gave concertgoers one last moment to solidify his already perfect impression. As Alexander waved goodbye to the crowd, the utmost gratitude was written all over his face. Alexander may write a lot of sad songs, but his ability to uplift the spirits of those around him with his music and kind soul is otherworldly.
