Almost Monday

Article by Sara Rosenthal

The indie-pop trio almost monday surfed into San Diego this week for a hometown show as part of the North American leg of their DIVE tour. This felt more like a groovy beach party than a typical concert.

As the opening notes of ‘dive’ blared through the speakers, the excitement reached a fever pitch as the band took the stage. Lead singer Dawson Daugherty stormed onto the stage, clad in a green cutoff tee and sunglasses with his curly hair bouncing with every step. The crowd fed off his energy as he danced across the stage. Donning a turquoise guitar for their danceable hit ‘Can’t Slow Down,’ he kept the energy high and encouraged the crowd to sing and dance along. Since it was a hometown show for almost monday, Daughtery noted that some lyrics of the song ‘Seaside Market’ would be familiar to the crowd, as it refers to a local market in the area.

almost monday brought the “vibes” back to San Diego. While the North American leg of their tour is now over, they are headed across the pond to the UK to begin the next phase of their tour.
