BENEE
Article by Ashley O’Mara
Singer/songwriter BENEE brought her dreamy alt-pop to the desert on August 12, 2024 in support of Wallows. The show marks the New Zealand native's first trip to Arizona, and hopefully not her last!
BENEE took the stage wearing fuzzy moon boots, an oversized hoodie, and a mini skirt adorned with long hanging bows - an interesting (but cute!) choice considering the Arizona heat. Her eclectic look grabbed the attention of audience members immediately as she kicked off her set with ‘Kool,’ a song off of her 2020 debut album Hey u x. BENEE’s performance was as whimsical and captivating as her music. She engaged the crowd with a playful screaming contest, funky dance moves, fun poses, and personal anecdotes. ‘Kool’ set the tone for more laid back type vibes through much of the set, but the energy ramped up significantly with ‘Animal’ and continued thereafter. BENEE closed out the evening with her global hit ‘Supalonely,’ which had the entire audience on its feet and singing along to every word.
Her performance was well received by fans. On more than one occasion, audience members shouted “I love you!” and “Marry me!” to express their adoration for the singer. Don’t miss BENEE on tour with Wallows through September 12, and be on the lookout for new music set to release this fall!
