Brooke Alexx

Rising star Brooke Alexx brought her Big Mouth Tour through the Valley of the Sun on October 24th. The tour is promoting her recent debut album, Big Mouth, and marks the singer’s first as a headliner. The stop at Valley Bar in Phoenix came on the heels of a pivotal moment for the pop-rock singer-songwriter as she sold out her show at the Echo in Los Angeles the night before. Alexx amassed a large following after the release of her song ‘All My Exes’ Moms’ took off on social media. Originally from New Jersey, the Nashville-based artist quit her job as a video editor to focus on her music career, and continue to grow her platform. Although she is not signed to a label, she did not let this hold her back when she decided it was time to make an album and did it on her own.

As fans were eagerly awaiting the main event, the stage was decorated with distinct girly flair. A plush rug in the shape of a mouth, a stool adorned with a bow holding a bright red lip-shaped telephone, and plush teddy bears were scattered throughout. On the backdrop, a neon sign was hung featuring her signature “Big Mouth” logo. Alexx took the stage and kicked off her set with ‘Super Famous,’ the first track off of her debut album. Brooke brought an impressive energy to the stage, dancing effortlessly while delivering flawless vocals. She engaged well with the crowd by holding hands with fans while singing to them, and joining the crowd for a more intimate performance of ‘Oldest.’ She shared the vulnerable stories behind her songs, allowing fans to feel a closer connection to her. The set as a whole could be described as fun, but there were a couple of stand out moments that elevated that fun to another level. Brooke named one of the teddy bears on stage after the ex of one of her audience members before ripping off its head and scattering the contents across the stage. This led into a high energy performance of ‘Never Liked Your Name.’ She also paused her set to inquire if anyone in the audience thought they might have a bigger mouth. A selected audience member joined Alexx on stage to have her mouth measured (it wasn’t even close!).

As her set was winding down, Alexx invited supporting act Halston Dare to join her on stage for a mashup of ‘Hot Like You’ and Chappel Roan’s ‘HOT TO GO!’. The hour-long, 14-song set featured all but one track from her new album with a mix of other favorites mixed in. Alexx joined the crowd once more to dance with fans for her final song ‘All My Exes’ Moms,’ the viral hit that made her an overnight success. Alexx put on an unforgettable performance that took fans through a whirlwind of emotions—there were moments of laughter, a few tears, and an overwhelming sense of joy as the happiness Alexx radiated was contagious.

It is no wonder Brooke Alexx has been recognized as “one to watch.” There is no doubt big things are in store for this rising star. You can catch Brooke on the Big Mouth tour through November 9th when the tour makes its final stop at the Drake Underground in Toronto.
