Catch Your Breath

Article by Hannah Baez

Despite a heavy snowstorm hitting Minneapolis on Tuesday night, nothing could stop fans from packing into the Varsity Theater for Catch Your Breath’s headlining show. The night was stacked with incredible performances from If Not For Me, The Funeral Portrait, and Archers. The city outside was blistering cold, but the energy inside was blazing hot.

Fans erupted in cheers the moment Catch Your Breath took the stage and kicked off the set with ‘Ghost Inside the Shell.’ Lead singer Josh Mowery brought an infectious energy to the stage from bouncing around while belting out incredible vocals to constantly engaging with the fans. ‘Deadly’ and ‘Mirror’ had fans fully immersed in the show as they sang along to every lyric. An incredible moment from the show arrived when Mowery kicked into ‘Criminal,’ and encouraged the crowd to part down the middle and form a mosh pit. Mowery showed great control with the crowd and the way he interacted with them.

Later in the set, the band slowed things down with ’21 Gun Salute’ and ‘Good in Goodbye.’ Mowery took a moment to share the meaning behind ‘Good in Goodbye,’ and revealed the song is dedicated to guitarist Teddy Herrera’s grandmother. Moments like this allow fans to connect on a personal level with the band. The night ended with ‘Savages,’ ‘Dial Tone,’ and ‘Shame on Me’ to bring the energy back to full force. Fans were especially excited to hear ‘Dial Tone,’ a track that gained significant popularity on TikTok in 2022. The crowd’s reaction was electric as everyone sang along to the chorus. Catch Your Breath’s set was an unforgettable experience, and their performance solidified their place as one of the most exhilarating bands in the post-hardcore scene today.
