Imminence
Article by Hannah Baez
Swedish metalcore band Imminence brought The Black Tour to The Fillmore in Minneapolis. Fans were wrapped around the venue, and bracing the cold before the doors opened. Joining them on tour included JILUKA and LANDMVRKS to warm the crowd up. The energy in the room was electric as the crowd eagerly chanted, "IMMINENCE!" before the band took the stage.
The stage was designed to resemble an altar with incense filling the air to create an immersive atmosphere. Imminence delivered an incredible 20 song setlist including tracks primarily from their latest album releases: The Black and The Return of The Black. Tracks such as ‘Paralyzed’ and ‘Beyond the Pale’ had everyone headbanging and crowd surfing. ‘Death Shall Have No Dominion’ really showcased the band's unique style as Eddie Berg’s violin added a dramatic flair to the performance. One memorable moment was when Berg’s bow started losing strings, and he started swinging the bow around to add a theatrical touch. Later in the evening, guitarist Harald Barrett used the bow to play his guitar—something the band is known for. The band was fully engaged with the crowd, and spent the night encouraging fans to crowd surf and mosh.
A standout moment was their version of ‘Alleviate,’ starting off as a ballad before exploding into the full song with fans singing along passionately. Imminence put on an unforgettable show, and their connection with the crowd was undeniable throughout the show. From the moment they hit the stage, the energy never dropped. Berg’s stage presence was captivating as he seamlessly transitioned between violin and vocals. Barrett and Alex Arnoldsson’s guitar work was as dynamic as ever. Imminence truly knows how to put on a show that gets the crowd invested, and leaves them wanting more.
