Jake Scott

The sun was beginning to set and the clouds drifted away. The spring air was comforting, and perfect for a night filled with good company and uplifting music. The crowd was full of smiles and lively energy waiting for the show to begin. An LED sign lit up and displayed ‘Jake Scott’ in all white letters. A mesmerizing guitar solo and drum loop accompanied by a backing track blared through the speakers. Jake Scott skipped to center stage in Indianapolis wearing red Adidas sneakers, and radiated an infinite amount of positive, carefree energy. “The way that you're smiling darling, I love that I know you like no one does,” sang Jake as he pointed out fans who were dancing to the beat. He convinced the entire crowd to stand up and enjoy the music with him. Jake’s contagious energy quickly spread throughout the crowd, and even the back row was shaking their hips and showing off their dance moves.
Jake continued to form a connection with the crowd throughout the entirety of his set. During the bridge of ‘Like This,’ the band cut the instrumentals so the crowd could sing the lyrics with Jake. When introducing one of his most popular tracks, ‘I Don’t Miss You,’ he asked if there were any country music fans in the house. Several concert goers responded by screaming while jumping up and down like kids in a candy store. Jake delivered the backstories of several songs to paint a picture of the personal life events that heavily influence his music. This allowed those in attendance to gain more insight into who Jake is down to his very core. “I was born in Arkansas, and I made a promise to myself that I would never date someone from the enemy, Texas. That all changed when I met Rachel, and I married her instantly,” laughs Jake before performing ‘Texas Girl.’ The way he dedicated several songs to his wife was heartwarming and sentimental.
The lyricism along with Jake’s deliverance of smooth vocals with raspy edges made for a nostalgic overall feel. This rang true when he performed an acoustic version of ‘Tuesdays.’ The crowd’s phone flashlights swayed side-to-side and created pure magic. In a way, this exhibited the same magic of the track itself as it describes the simplicity of love. Jake’s steady yet jaw-dropping vocals during the performance of ‘She’ had us all bonding together as hopeless romantics. He made an everlasting imprint on the Indianapolis crowd, and the collection of sappy love songs made the crowd feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Jake’s set from beginning to end felt as if you were floating on a fluffy cloud through a wonderland while holding onto the one you love most.
