Jessica Baio

Article by Gabrielle Groves

At just 11 years old, 22-year-old singer-songwriter Jessica Baio was already making a name for herself in the music industry when she covered Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus in front of U.K. singer Cher Lloyd, who was “blown away” by the performance. Baio continued to cover popular songs by some of her influences (such as Justin Bieber and Demi Lovato) on YouTube, with many of her videos getting hundreds of thousands of views. Fast forward to 2024: Baio has released 4 EPs, over 1 million Instagram followers, and over 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

All of her EPs contain her own original songs about complex relationships, comparing oneself to others, and even a song written as a tribute to her husband and his late father. Less than a year after releasing her debut EP, catalyst, Baio continues to add to her beautiful and emotionally raw discography with her new EP, petals. Baio describes the EP as one where “...each song represents a petal and, when put together as a collective work, those petals form a beautiful flower. In the same way a flower blooms, I feel like the songs on this EP have helped me ‘bloom’ and grow as an artist.” Baio is currently touring the U.S. with fellow pop singer Natalie Jane, with stops in Baio’s home state of California as well as Utah, where she now lives. She also makes weekly YouTube videos with her husband on their channel, Sam & Jess.
