Taylor Acorn is leaving a deep-rooted, uplifting imprint on the pop-punk community and beyond. Her recent singles ‘Greener’ and ‘High Horse’ are flooded with eloquent vocals, and lyricism with sage advice. She expresses good things are coming, and the importance of being true to yourself regardless of who is trying to convince you otherwise. Taylor wrapped up her first headlining tour in May, and since then has been performing at countless festivals including Let’s Go! Music Festival and Slam Dunk Festival. Starting in September, Taylor will join the tour of a lifetime with Dashboard Confessional and Boys Like Girls. Taylor Acorn will always be our pop-punk queen.

Your new single ‘Greener’ was released recently! How has the response been so far?
Taylor: “The response has been incredible! It’s always super nerve wracking to put out new music, but I’m really happy that fans seem to be really gravitating towards this one. I’m just really proud of it.”

What are you hoping resonates with listeners with the new single?
Taylor: “I just really hope when they listen to it, it brings them joy. It was such a healing experience to write this song and so I hope they feel the same now that it’s theirs.”

Describe in three words how your first headline tour is going!!
Taylor: “chaotic, amazing, healing - those would be my 3 words. This tour has been the best experience I think I’ve ever had in my life.”

What are you most looking forward to when touring with the iconic Dashboard Confessional and Boys Like Girls this fall?
Taylor: “Getting to see them perform every night! But really, I am such a fan of both bands and just to be able to share the stage with them and watch them play is such an honor.”

Who are three artists you have been listening to lately that are shaping the music you are currently making / have recently made?
Taylor: “I’ve been listening to a lot of ‘90s early 2000s music like Goo Goo Dolls, Counting Crows, and Alanis Morrisette! I’m a huge fan of all three and they’ve been giving me a lot of inspo when it comes to the new music I’ve been working on.”

Back in 2020, your viral cover of ‘Jamie All Over’ on TikTok drastically changed the direction of your career. What officially pushed you to leave country music, go back to your roots, and pursue the path of pop-punk?
Taylor: “I just always knew at the end of the day I am more of a fan of pop punk and that’s where I felt I belonged. I grew up listening to primarily rock music and that’s what I still gravitate towards every time I listen to music on the daily. I think it just made more sense for me to embrace that side of myself and I genuinely feel like my community is there. I’ll always have a respect for country music, but I think I’m making the music I was always supposed to now.”

Your mission is to create a safe space for your listeners to feel seen, be vulnerable, and have the opportunity to heal. Who / what is that safe space for you and why?
Taylor: “My fans, my family, my team, my friends- they are all my safe space. I feel so much support more now than ever and I feel like that’s so important especially in doing what we do. It can feel so isolating sometimes, but I’m very grateful for everyone that I surround myself with. Oh and my cat of course!!”

What are 2-3 goals you have for the rest of 2024 (music-related or otherwise)?
Taylor: “I really want to just keep putting out music and touring! I’d love to be able to eventually put out an entire album of work, I feel like I’m so ready for that.”
