The Struts
Article by Sara Rosenthal
The Struts closed their Pretty Vicious North American Tour in Anaheim last week. This was my first time seeing this famed British rock band, and I was blown away by how well they owned the stage and engaged the audience. Although it was warm outside, the sold-out crowd was buzzing with energy inside.
Barns Courtney kicked off the night with intense energy. Running all over the stage and swinging the mic, he played a whole bunch of crowd favorites such as ‘London Girls,’ ‘Glitter & Gold,’ and ‘Fire.’ After ending his set with a stage dive and a crowd surf, the energy was high in anticipation for The Struts.
During the set changeover, the crowd sang along to Blur’s ‘Song 2,’ which only upped the ante. Taking the stage to raucous cheers, the band kicked off the set with ‘Primadonna Like Me,’ ‘Fallin’ with Me,’ and a crowd favorite, ‘Body Talks.’ Frontman Luke Spiller commands attention with his intricate costumes, and the intensity with which he performs: high-kicking and dancing all over the stage. If you have an opportunity, The Struts show should not be missed. Their North American Tour run for 2024 is over, but you can catch them on tour next month in Europe!
